Ken was taken aback. This hero girl had poked him with her pencil and then asked if he was okay? Who did she think she was? "I'm fine," Ken answered stonily, taking the pencil from her and reaching past her to place it firmly on her desk.
Fiddling with the pencil a bit, she stared up at Ken again.
"A-are you sure? Y-you seem kinda....."
....sad....
"...tense...."
She mentally hit herself for that one. TENSE!? He was always tense.
But she couldn't decide what she really wanted to say, Ken was a very intimidating person and she didn't really talk to people anyway. She really had no idea how to handle this kind of situation.
But...I'll keep trying...its only fair.....

Ken laughed softly, and leaned forward to whisper in Awa's ear. "Dead on with the diagnosis, doctor, but do you know where the tension comes from? It comes from keeping my power in check. How do I do that, you ask? Simple. I hold the pain inside myself."
Awa shivered from the close contact, blinking up at Ken.
"T-that's.....t-that's..."
She frowned, quivering slightly.
"But that's so sad......"
She gazed at Ken, lip shaking as if she was about to burst into tears. She felt bad for him, nobody should have to suffer like that and then have nobody care. She didn't know exactly what she was feeling, but she knew she definitely wanted to be his friend.
He doesn't deserve how people treats him....he needs a friend....
Seeing as she was already being so bold today, she leaned in closer to Ken. Wrapping her arms around him, she gave him an awkward but warm hug. She hoped he wouldn't kill her, but at that point she didn't care.
Ken bristled from the unwelcome gesture and zapped Awa's arms a bit. It wasn't much, wouldn't even hurt really. But it should let her know to not do that again.
As always, it was a simple matter for Ken to expel just as much pain as he meant and no more. He wasn't tempted to use more, but still... The release felt good. That was half the reason why Ken knew he couldn't be a hero. It was too satisfying causing pain.
Ken sat back from Awa, sighing in frustration. Why was he everybody's pity case today? First Johnson, now Awa...
Awa winced slightly, then let go of Ken. Instead of shrinking back in fear, she merely giggled. He didn't say anything, but at least he wasn't killing her.
"You aren't so bad....."
It wasn't meant to be loud, let alone heard.
"Is there anything I can do....to make you feel better...?"
Matt burst into the room, blood splattered across his clean, white uniform, and staining the small bit of revealed skin around his eyes. Thee was a frantic look in them, and his hair was frayed and matted with blood. He held in one hand a rather large scalpel, and the other hand was un-cloved, his nails digging into the wood of the classroom door.
"Um, Mr. Logan? You wouldn' happen to keep a set of band-aids in your desk, would you?"

Awa squeaked, nearly falling out of her seat. Gasping for breath, she stared wide eyed at the newcomer. She couldn't remember, but she thought she had seen him in class earlier today.
Gasping, she managed to sputter out.
"O-oh m-my god..... A-are you okay!?"
Breathing deeply, her mind reeled for a moment.
Calm down, calm down...he's okay...get a bandaid.....
Grabbing her school bag, she frantically began searching through it. All the while keeping her eyes on Ken and Matt.
I had one...I know it....
Triumphantly, she breathed a sigh of relief as she pulled out her miniature first aid kit. Hey, a Hero has to carry that stuff around right? Casting one more look to Ken, she weakly got out of her seat. She nearly fainted at the sight, but the shock was finally wearing away. Making her way to the door, she lowered her head and shakily handed him the first aid kit.
"I- I have some...in there......"
It came out as more of a frightened squeak than a statement, but she didn't have time to worry about that now. Shakily, she turned back and nearly ran to her seat.
Tripping in the process.
Her face grew scarlet, she knew everyone must be staring at her now. A few tears burned in her eyes, but she held them back. Steadily, she limped back to her seat and hung her head in shame.
Stupidstupidstupidstupid.....

Matt gladly accepted the kit, and was about to leave when she tripped. He took a step forward to help her, but she got up by herself. He noticed her limp, and the quickly developing briuse on her leg.
"Lemme get that for you.." He held up his hand, and it glowed gold for a moment. He cringed, as the same briuse developed on his leg, but as hers disappeared, so did his. He smiled again, then left the room.
A few minutes later, Matt leaned back in the doorway. He was out of uniform, and his hair was still wet from his post-surgery shower.
"Sorry, Mr. Logan, some unlucky student fell through a.. mysterious.. hole.. in the floor. Got banged up pretty bad.." Matt laughed nervously, then shot his eyes to the floor as he sulked back to his desk.
He made it a point to walk by the girl's desk, and handed back her kit with a smile.
"Thanks, you saved a kid's life today. Turns out we needed more than a band-aid, so we had to take the gauze and icepack if that's okay.." He placed the small plastic bin on her desk. "My name's Matt, or Mygdala if calling me by my hero name.." He turned away with a smile, and shut his eyes.
Poor thing, her face is still red from the trip.. maybe I could..
He tripped and landed on his desk, hard. So hard the desk flipped forward and landed on his back. The class laughed at him, much louder than any of them had when Awa tripped.
He grinned a bit, still facing the floor. It was a fake trip, a gag, slapstick. But she wouldn't know, and the class's attention would be diverted.

Zenith
Zenith was starting to get impatient waiting for Lucas to reply so he merely shrugged and started to head back to his respective classroom. He was quickly stopped by Matt rushing in with blood all over his clothes and Awa tripping as she made her way back to her seat after giving him his requested Band-Aids. He was about to ask her if she was okay when Matt beat him to it. He silently watched as he appeared to cure her of her limp and then leave the room.
“Well, alright then… Uh, I’ll just be taking my leave then, Lucas. Later.”
Lucas bid him farewell and Zenith was about to walk back to his classroom when he noticed that Awa was still in distress despite being cured of her affliction. He debated whether or not to go back to his own classroom or stay in this one for a moment before he quickly teleported out of the room. Grabbing his pencil from his desk in the adjacent classroom, he teleported back to the room and sat down at an empty desk towards the front.
“Maybe I should stay here just in case anything happens.”
He then picked up his pencil and got to work on his new Sudoku sheets. He barely started on the first box when Matt came back into the classroom and proceeded to trip in front of the entire class. Zenith didn't laugh at his misfortune, but merely shook his head and resumed his work.
"Heh, walk much?" he muttered to himself with a grin.

Awa blinked, still red faced from before as Matt reappeared in the doorway. She sank in her seat a bit, but that was when he gave her back her first aid kit. Her eyes widened.
I...I did......I....
Slowly, she smiled, obviously happy that she was of some help. That's what she wanted to do, save people.
"Y-you're welcome....Matt...."
Maybe, she could make friends with him too. He seemed really nice. Suddenly, there was a loud crash and people laughing. Shocked, she looked down and saw Matt laying on the floor with the desk on his back. Her eyes widened and she gasped. Quickly, she got up and bent over him.
"Oh my gosh...are you okay!?"
She bit her lip, offering him a hand. Then, her head glared up at everyone who was laughing. Her pinkish red eyes flared, and for a moment everyone could see why she was a hero and not a sidekick.
"All of you SHUT UP! Don't laugh at poor Matt! He didn't do anything to you! How would YOU like it if YOU fell over like t-that!"
She stuttered at the end, her gaze losing much of its intensity. Her face flared up again, and she lowered her head. She noticed that Zenith had joined the class vaguely, but paid no mind to it at the moment. She was really embarrassed.
Matt took her hand, and grinned, smiling even through her outburst. He pulled himself up and let the desk topple to the floor.
"I'm fine, just a little bit of dust." He said, almost laughing. He grabbed his desk and set it straight, and picked up his backpack that was previously under the desk. "Mind informing me what we're doing right now?" He whispered.
Awa nodded, too afraid of her voice to say anything. Shaking a bit, she gulped and wiped her pants a bit. .Finally getting the courage to speak, she nodded to one of the other desks.
"S-sudoku......"
She remembered that she wasn't supposed to be finished with hers already, but wanted to make sure Matt was okay.
"Y-you sure you're okay....."
She bit her lip, chewing on it slightly. A nervous habit.
This room must be unlucky......
She sighed, shoulders slumping slightly. Her hair fell over her face a bit, but it did little to hide her embarrassment. She fidgeted a bit, not really sure what to do now.

Zenith
Zenith raised his head and turned around in his seat to stare at Matt and Awa after she yelled at the class to shut up. He could tell that she was upset at the class for laughing at Matt’s fall. He didn’t know for sure if the trip was staged or was for real, but as long as Matt was okay he didn’t really care. He would have offered his help, but he figured that Awa could take care of it. After all, she did have that first aid kit with her, so if anything really serious had happened, he would be in good hands.
“She appears to be a strong-willed girl,” he thought to himself. “She should be able to hold her own in these kinds of situations.”
He then turned back around in his seat and resumed his puzzles.
“Sure is turning out to be an interesting day today.”
Matt sat in his seat, and noticed his near-finished sudoku on the floor.
"Oh.. oh yeah! I was almost done!" He picked them up and set them on his desk, quickly scribbling in the last number on his paper."Ha! Finished in time!"
He smiled up at the girl standing in front of his desk. "You know? I don't think you ever told me your name..."
Awa's eyes widened and her mouth hung open a bit. Slowly but surely, the color returned to her face. One, she kept getting noticed by people. And two, she was being really rude.
"o-oh...OH MY GOD! I'm so sorry!"
Lowering her head sharply and sicking out her hand, Awa shook in mortification.
"A-Awa......Awa Fuusen......"
She cringed slightly, tears rapidly rushing to her face.
How could I be so rude!? Omg.....they must think I'm such an idiot!
"B-Bubbly...Ballo-oon....."
Then she closed her eyes tightly, fully expecting more laughter. Or at least a sarcastic remark from certain people in the room.
Matt reached out a hand and brushed a tear off of her cheek.
"Bubbly Balloon, huh? It's cute." He stood, and put his hand on her cheek, still smiling broadly. The heat from her red face was evident as her ahdn touched her face, and he immedately felt sympathy for the girl. "Relax, kay? Noone's judging you, and besides, we've al heard worse. The Whizzer, for instance. I mean, coulda gone with Running man, or Ostrich dude, wither one's better than the Whizzer.. and then he's wearing a yellow jumpsuit? People are just gonna get the wrong idea, man!"
He was trying to make her laugh, trying to make her relax. He figured he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he left class with her bawling, so he jumped for his jokes.
This made her blush more, she couldn't help it really. She sniffled a bit, trying to get the tears to go away. When had she allowed the dam to break anyway? This was beyond embarrassing. She trembled lightly, bringing her own hand up to cover her face.
I must look so.....
She was cut off when she heard him call her name cute. Nobody had ever said that before except Grace, and she smiled a tiny bit.
But his hand was still on her face.
She didn't have time to think of that though, because immediately Matt had told her about someone with a far funnier name than her own. She giggled a bit, The Whizzer?
She wasn't all that upset about her name, more about her rudeness earlier. Still, the fact that Matt was trying to cheer her up made her feel alot better. She finally raised her head and locked eyes with him.
"Y-yeah, they probably would."
She beamed a bit, her face still a bit red and tearstained. But she felt alot better now. Her eyes dropped to the floor again right after though.
"Thanks...."
She mumbled it as a side note, hoping he wouldn't really hear her.
He smiled at her and then turned his attention back to his puzzles.
“Hmm, Lucas wasn’t kidding when he said these were a challenge… However, I refuse to be daunted by these things! I’ve never come across a puzzle I could not complete 100%.”
With renewed vigor, he began to rapidly fill in the remaining squares.
"Matt looked over Zenith's shoulder at the puzzle he was attempting, and froze.
"Woah.. I don't think I oculd do that if my mother's own life depended on it!" He stood next to his desk, intently watching Zenith's progress as he worked down the page. "Awa, look at this kid! He's like a genius or something!"
Awa jolted up a bit at her name, then looked over to see what Matt was talking about. He was standing over Zenith, looking at his puzzle. Quietly, she drifted over and took a look herself. It really was impressive what Zenith was doing.
More importantly, it took off attention from her. She nodded slightly, smiling a bit.
"Wow Zenith....that's awesome...."
She completely withdrew into herself again, staring a the two rather awkwardly. Still, she stayed where she was and watched Zenith work a bit.

Zenith
Zenith could feel Matt’s presence near him and laughed at the kid’s comment.
“Heh, I’m no genius, but I seem to have a knack for these kinds of puzzles. Completing them in no time at all just comes natural to me. Although, these particular puzzles are some of the toughest I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Soon, Awa joined Matt and both of them silently watched Zenith work his way through the sheets. There were at least ten of them and he had completed four so far.
“Thank you, Awa,” he replied when she commented him on his progress. “You could probably try one of these yourself if you wanted to. I’m sure that Lucas has plenty more where these came from.”
Awa stared at the paper in her hand, clutching the new pencil tightly.
"I-I dunno...."
Quietly, she looked over the paper. Then , shakily, she filled in a few numbers. Her mouth moved slightly, not making a sound, and her eyes gazed lazily at the paper. For a moment, she looked deeply in thought and interested in the sheet, Then, just as quickly, she looked up from the page.
"N-no....too hard for me I guess...."
She nervously placed the sheet down and handed the pencil back to Zenith. No need to get singled out at knowing Math too right?
Matt, having long since severed himself from the conversation, was now sitting on the ground next to Zenith's chair, reading a book simply titled, 'Anatomy'. His eyes were dull and glazed over, an obvious sign he was reading less and thinking more.
The Thalmus relays sensory information and essentially ranslates it so the rest of the brain can analyse it... take out the Thalmus and they can't hear, see, touch, smell, or tase... instant incapacitation... could come in handy..
"Hey, Zenith? Mind helping with an expiriment?" Matt half-conciously asked.
