Well, right now we're just playing it out in the IC thread. Unless Tom wants to move them into a new thread for this and other similar games that might crop up?

The way you guys are describing Mao is like a version of Crazy Eights I played with my friends years ago. You start off with an evenly distributed pile of cards, (sometimes with the Jokers, sometimes without), and then someone goes first, placing a card face up on the floor. At this point, it's a free-for-all with all of the players.
Say the first card was a King of Hearts. Depending on what version you were playing, anyone could put down either a king, a red card, or a heart. Card changes happen frequently depending on what you just put down (King of Hearts => Ten of Hearts => Ten of Spades => Ace of Spades => Ace of Diamonds => Seven of Diamonds => and so forth). Any eights that were put down of any suit were wild cards (Jokers worked the same way if you were playing with them) and play changed accordingly. The first person to get rid of all of their cards was the winner. The games that my friends and I played were insanely fast and would usually be over within 30 seconds to a minute in length, depending on how many people we were playing against. We never really had any special name for it; we just referred to it as our own version of Crazy Eights.
